You are not blind, just not very well informed. They released the 1199 Panignale this week. Plenty of 1198's left in the showrooms.

I do not live in Australia, i will try to purchase one when i get back to Tx. I dont like the look of the 1199, just not my cup of tea. The 1198's are pretty sexy, and i saw one in person when i had my 08 cbr1000 and i told myself id get one for my next bike.

 

Speaking of CBR's and the 1199. Just yesterday I had a 2009/2010 all Red CBR1000RR come up behind me and pass me (i was in my truck) - I have to say the 1199 resembles the CBR A LOT !!! the nose, the headlights, tank, tail - all very similar.

 

Thats a tough one Just went through the webvsite and with all the new stuff the 1199 looks awesome for pure power. Not sure I like the Monster tank look, as with the lack of the trellis frame

 

From a quasi practical perspective, the slope on that tank is such that I wonder if one might slide up on to the tank under heavy braking. One think I really do like about my 1198, at least with the Superpole seat is that there is a limit to forward slippage provided by the rear of the tank.

 

Actually now that you post them side by side I have to agree with the guy. Obviously not comparable bikes but the tail section, body shape, mirrors, and profile is very similar. Not that the cbr is even worth mentioning but it would look similar flying by!

I agree with you that they look nothing alike, but i disagree with you that the Honda is slow, cause it's not, let me tell you.

 

Good luck with the sales mate, like we all say, we seem to always get shafted down here in Oz with the $$$$.
Like I said, I would luv to purchase one, but not sure just yet on many things.
I think I'll sit on the fence for a while.
More than happy with the 1198, & I know it's just a Honda but I also luv that thing too.

I was supposed to be at P.I. tomorrow and Tuesday, had to cancel though. I reckon back down feb/march next year. Have you been there lately?

 

Not for a while, hope to be there early next year as well if i can't get one in, in Dec. Hanging out for it. Slow group of course.

have you ever thought about heading up to eastern creek, fantastic track with a great layout....and a "new extension". Well worth the drive
